Sedation Dentistry in Alkimos
At Alkimos Beach Dental Centre, your comfort is our priority! We want you to feel comfortable and calm when you’re with us. For some, that means undergoing safe and effective sedation dentistry for an easier experience.
Why Choose Sedation Dentistry?
Many patients who may have had a poor experience at a past dentist’s office or those who simply don’t love the sound of dental tools often find that sedation can work wonders for them. Our team proudly offers this service to patients seeking a more anxiety-free experience.
Our Options
- Local anaesthetic: This anaesthetic is still the gold standard for most dental procedures and what we recommend for most patients. For patients with needle phobias, we offer STA Wand anaesthetic, which is a computer-controlled anaesthetic delivery system that replaces traditional syringe-style injections for a more comfortable and relaxing experience.
- Oral sedation: This type of sedation can be prescribed for patients with dental anxiety. We may prescribe medication in pill and/or inhaler forms. You’ll take the tablets a specific amount of time before your procedure. The inhaler is used just before your appointment. These options will not put you to sleep but will make you drowsy and relaxed so that you can face your dental procedure with greater ease and comfort.
- IV Sedation: This sedation consists of medication that is delivered intravenously. This type of sedation reduces anxiety, makes you sleepy and produces temporary amnesia so that you don’t remember the procedure—meaning it won’t contribute to your anxiety around dental work. Twilight sedation typically wears off within a few hours, but it may take a full 24 hours for you to completely recover from the effects of the sedation.
