Many people hold off seeing a dentist until it's too late for us to save their existing teeth. The more teeth you retain, the better your appearance and jaw health as you get older. A dental bridge replaces your missing teeth with false teeth. The bridge is attached to some of your existing teeth on either side of the space left by the missing teeth. The bridge is fixed in place. Bridges provide an alternative option to having dentures.
Seeing a dentist sooner is always the best option.
A dental bridge can help restore your smile and provides you with a new sense of confidence. Filling the gap left by missing teeth is also important because, if the gap is not filled, the surrounding teeth might lean into the gap over time and change the way you look and more importantly bite.
To prepare you for a dental bridge, our dentist will file down the 2 healthy teeth on either side of the gap. We then take a mould to make your bridge. We may provide you with a temporary bridge while waiting for your permanent bridge to be made. Once made we get you back to replace the temporary bridge with your new permanent one bridge. On occasions we might anchor your bridge with a dental implant. The implant is surgically fixed into your jaw. We will need to check if dental implants are suitable for you.
