Bone & Tissue Grafting in Alkimos
Restoring your smile with dental implants can often be the best approach for missing teeth – dental implants are the closest thing to natural teeth and can last for a very long time.
However, for implants to be successful, a patient must have sufficient jawbone for the implant to fuse with. At Alkimos Beach Dental Centre, along with dental implants, our experienced dentists are skilled in grafting soft tissue and bone to create a stable foundation for your dental restorations.
What to Expect
We may recommend dental implants for patients who are missing a tooth (or teeth). Based on a thorough examination of your teeth and mouth, including X-rays or CT scans, we will determine if you have enough jawbone to support the implants. If not, we must do bone grafting first to strengthen the bone. We use synthetic materials for the grafts.
Advantages of Bone and Tissue Grafts
Bone grafts strengthen the bone so it can hold the implant – for some patients with significant bone loss, we may have to do repeated grafts to create the volume of bone needed. With adequate bone, your implants can last for many, many years.
Tissue grafting of the gums helps your implant look the same as your natural teeth by evening out your gum line around the implant.
