Why should I visit the dentist regularly?

Do you remember the last time you saw your dentist?

If you cannot remember, or believe it may have been more than six months ago, then you’ll be due for an appointment.  The longer the time between appointments, the greater the risk to the overall health of your teeth and gum.
The job of your dentist is to monitor the health or your teeth and gums and note down any changes that occur. Regular visits allow us to catch any problems early and treat any issues before too late. Our job is to help you maintain healthy gums and teeth.
You may be cleaning twice a day, flossing, and rinsing your mouth, however, this is not a substitute for visiting the dentist. Even if you think your mouth is healthy you will not always be able to see the signs of tooth decay that a trained professional can.
You should visit Alkimos Beach Dental to ensure your teeth are well looked after. If your dentist needs to see you more often due to ongoing oral health issues you may need to see us more regularly.

What happens when you visit your dentist?

During your regular check-ups, our dentists will check for any oral health issues and clean your teeth with special tools, our Hygienist is very thorough in doing the clean for you. The dentist checks your mouth for any cavities, decay, broken restorations that might be a potential problem if not rectified, signs of tartar, gum disease, oral tissues change abnormalities, and other issues you not aware of.

Depending on your circumstance and the length of time between visits you may find the dentist requires dental x-rays to check for cavities, abnormalities, or other problems not visible to the naked eye. Intra-oral camera is another way to find any potential problems. If any issues are found then the dentist will notify and explain to you the treatment option recommended during your checkup and to book you in for future treatment.

Our surgery is equipped with operating microscopes for precision treatment plus the CAD/ CAM beautiful state-of-the-art ceramic restorations.

During a dental checkup, your teeth will also receive a professional clean with our hygienist. This will include scaling, polishing, and a fluoride treatment to help keep your teeth healthy and strong.

Children’s check-ups

Taking your child to the dentist within six months of the first tooth eruption or by 12 months old will ensure the dentist can begin looking for any potential issues early on and will also get to know your child. The earlier your child begins dental visits, the less likely they will grow to fear the dentist. Dentists can provide parents with diet and dental hygiene recommendations and help with early intervention with Issues such as over-crowding, missing or crooked teeth.
